How to create a Microsoft Live Account

Why in the world would you have me register my email address with Microsoft Live? Simple, registering your email with Microsoft Live will save time when signing up for things such as Microsoft Webmaster Tools which is strongly recommended to do at the start of setting up any website or blog. This will also give you access to other services such as Microsoft Ads and Bing Places that we will go into more detail in additional blogs.

NOTE: If you have an Office 365 account your email address is already tied into a Microsoft Live account!

You can have your vendors use your accounts or you may grant them individual permission in using the account. We strongly recommend that you sign up for all the above-mentioned Microsoft services so that you have the primary account, for more details, read our blog Online Marketing Checklist.

Now let’s get started on the how to register your account with Microsoft, follow the Microsoft Live link to begin https://login.live.com/login.srf?lw=1.

On the Live page click on the [Create One!] link next to [No Account?]

Enter your company email address and password. You can choose to opt in or out of the promotional emails. In some cases, you cannot use an email such as webmaster@YourDomain.com, so you will have to use your personal business email address such as bob@YourDomain.com.

You will get an email like below with a code to enter into the next screen.

You will then be asked to prove you are a real person.

Your have now successfully tied your email address to a Microsoft account.
